Nepal Hydropower To Strengthen Regional Ties Of SAARC Countries: PM

The Prime Minister expressed this hope when visiting Nepalese Minister for Energy Radha Kumar Gyawall called on her at her official Ganobhaban residence here Yesterday afternoon.

After the meeting, PM's Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhury briefed reporters.

Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh could participate either by buying or investing in the hydropower projects in Nepal and put importance on grid connectivity between the two countries.

About the transit, the Prime Minister said Nepal could use Bangladesh's road and rail routes for boosting trade ties between the two countries.

Terming poverty as the main enemy of the region, the Prime Minister said the SAARC countries will have to work together to free the region from the curse of poverty.

PM's Energy Advisor Dr Tawfique-e Elahi Chowdhury, State Minister for Power Nasrul Hamid Bipu, PM's Principal Secretary Abdus Sobhan Sikder and Nepalese Ambassador to Bangladesh Hari Kumar Shrestha were present.
