Awami League Will Not Spare Any Criminal: PM

"My decision is crystal clear…no one will be speared if found involved in any criminal activity. I won't see which party the criminals belong to …even if they belong to my party-Awami League -- I won't spare," she warned.

The Prime Minister said that she never pampered any misdeed and will never do it either in the future. Hasina was speaking at a civic reception organised at a hotel here by Bangladeshi expatriates living in Japan.

Chaired by Mashudur Rahman, the reception was addressed, among others, by State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shariar Alam, Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Masud Bin Momen, Saleh Mohammad Arif, Shamshul Alam Bhutto and Mahmud Robi Chowdhury.

Talking about those who always crowd the government party, Hasina said such people are also there in the ruling Awami League. "Many Jamaat-BNP terrorists are now there in the Awami League, Juba League and Bangladesh Chhatra League, changing their colours and identities. These people are now engaged in bloodletting and all sorts of misdeeds," she added.

Premier said killing people in the name of movement during the January 5 election was not a political movement at all. Without naming any country, Hasina said a very strong power instigated Khaleda during her agitation programmes. "She (Khaleda) didn't look at the faces of the people of the country. She remained dependent on others to be in power. She thought the big power will put her back onto power."

She said the BNP chief now regretting her wrong political decision of not joining the election. "A politically wrong decision is always very much bad for a political party. Why will the people of the country pay for the BNP chief's wrong decision?" she questioned. The Prime Minister also said that the BNP chief has to pay for her political wrong decision. "It was the leadership failure," she added.

Putting emphasis on continuation of the government, Hasina said that it helps a lot carry on the development activities of the country. "We thank the people for their support to Awami League in the last election and we have the belief that we'll be able to continue our development activities,' she said.

The Prime Minister also thanked the Japan government for its support after the January 5 election. "When many developed countries were confused at that time Japan was with us. I express my gratitude to Japan and its people."

About the direct Dhaka-Tokyo-Dhaka flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the Prime Minister said she would consider it. Highlighting various development of her government in different sectors in the last five years, Hasina urged the expatriate Bangladeshis to project Bangladesh's progress abroad.
