China Seeks A New Dimension Of Relations With Bangladesh

The visiting Chinese military delegation said this when it called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official Ganobhaban residence here this afternoon.

Air Chief Marshal of Chinese Air Force Xu Qiliang, who is also vice- chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission, led the 15-member delegation.

Xu Qiliang assured that the Chinese government would provide support for modernisation and further increasing the strength of Bangladesh Armed Forces.

He said the aim of the Chinese delegation is to deepen the relations of mutual confidence, trust and assistance between Bangladesh and China.

Qiliang said the roots of Bangladesh-China relations have been sowed in culture and heritage. He also said the aim of the visit of the Chinese military team is to further develop the relations between the armed forces of the two countries. It would put a positive impact on the state relations between Dhaka and Beijing, he said.

The Prime Minister sought Chinese cooperation to make the country a developed and prosperous one by 2041.

She said that China witnessed massive development economically and it is to be followed by the neighbouring countries. Sheikh Hasina hoped that the good relations between the armed forces of the two countries would be strengthened further in the coming days.

In this connection, she appreciated the cooperation of China in developing the infrastructure of Bangladesh.

The Prime Minister hoped that the trans-Asian highway through China, Myanmar and Bangladesh would be completed soon which will boost the trade, commerce and communication between Bangladesh and China a lot.

Sheikh Hasina said that the countries of the region will help each other to establish friendly regional environment and strengthen economic activities of the area.

The Prime Minister said that the friendly relations between Bangladesh and China are sowed deeply.

PM's Principal Secretary Abdus Sobhan Sikdar, Military Secretary Major General Mian Mohammad Joynul Abedin, Special Assistant Mahbubul Hoque Shakil and Chinese Ambassador Li Jun were present on the occassion.
