PM Takes Responsibility for Actor Khalil’s Treatment

"I am taking the responsibility of treatment of Khalil Ullah Khan for the entire life," she announced while addressing the National Film Award 2012 distribution function here.

Earlier, Khalil received the lifetime achievement award from the Prime Minister at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC).

While expressing his feelings after receiving the award, the powerful actor highlighted his miseries before the audience. "I am struggling to bear my treatment cost as I have got only Taka two lakh from Film Artistes Organization," he said.

Khalil said his sons are now trying to provide his treatment cost but they can hardly meet the expenses.

Listening to his miseries, Sheikh Hasina told the jampacked audience of the BICC amid thunderous clapping that she is taking the responsibility of the treatment of Khalil, who has been suffering from various diseases for a long time.

Sheikh Hasina said there is a trust fund of the information ministry from which financial assistance is given to the distressed and insolvent artistes. "But there are many more things to be done for them," she said.

Later, the Prime Minister talked to the celebrated actor and had been photographed with Khalil sitting beside her.
