ECNEC Approved Five Projects Worth 3,445 Crore

The UGIIP aims to establish gender friendly good governance in 31 Pourasabhas across the country.

The approval came from an ECNEC meeting held today at the NEC conference room in city's Sher-e- Bangla Nagar with ECNEC Chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

Planning Minister A H M Mustafa Kamal after the meeting told reporters that the ECNEC gave nod to five development projects with a total outlay of Taka 3,445 crore.

"Of the total project cost, the government will provide Taka 945 crore from the national exchequer while Taka 2,499 crore will come as project assistance," he added.

Kamal said the third phase of the Urban Governance and Infrastructure Improvement Project (UGIIP) will require a cost of

Taka 2,648 crore.

Local Government Division (LGD) is tasked to complete the project by June, 2020.

Under the UGII project, good governance and developed physical infrastructures would be ensured in the selected Pourasabhas through maintaining sustainable financial management, accountability, accuracy, people's participation and planned urbanization.

The other projects approved in the ECNEC meeting are Netrokuna-Dharmapasha-Jamalganj- Sunamganj-Sylhet Road Development (Netrokuna Part) (Taka 34.69 crore), Birishiri-Bijoypur Land port Road Construction (Madupara Connection) (Taka 80.61 crore), Construction of the remaining part of Samabay Bhaban with installation of Solar Panel (Taka 34.98 crore) and National Agriculture Technology: Phase-I (Taka 6.94 crore).

Ministers, State Ministers, Members of Planning Commission and Secretaries were present in the meeting.
