Bangladesh can host any ICC tournament: PM

She said this when ICC president Alan Assac made a courtesy call on her at her Tejgaon office.

President of West Indies Cricket Board Whycliffe Cameron Dave, ICC director Neil Speight, president of Singapore Cricket Board Imran Khawja, ICC chief executive David Richardson accompanied the ICC president.

The Prime Minister said Bangladesh is giving impetus to cricket as well as other sports. A cricket academy is being established in Cox's Bazar, she said. In this regard, Sheikh Hasina mentioned Bangladesh's athletes success in the Special Olympics for the Disabled last year. She
said an international standard sports complex is being constructed at Savar for physically challenged persons.

ICC president Alan Assac extended his thanks to the Prime Minister for her overall support including security for arrangements for the ICC T20 World Cup 2014.

He also commended the spectators of Bangladesh saying the cricket stadium at world's largest sea beach Cox's Bazar would be an attractive venue for international cricket.

The ICC president also praised the female cricketers of Bangladesh and said they could show off their excellence in a very short time.

PM's Principal Secretary Abdus Sobhan Sikder, special assistant Mahbubul Hoque Shakil and president of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Nazmul Hasan Papan MP were present.
