Replying to a question from AKM Maidul Islam (Kurigram-3) during PM\\\'s question-answer session in the House, she said the two municipalities would be upgraded to city corporation subject to fulfillment of the criterions as per Local Government (city corporation) Rules-2010.
Sheikh Hasina said, the government has undertaken a plan to include Inclusive City Governance Project (ICGP) to be funded by JICA for Rangpur City Corporation. After approval of the project, it would be possible to start the work for infrastructure development of Rangpur City Corporation, she said.
The Prime Minister said, a Taka 25 crore project is being implemented in Rangpur for re-excavation of the Shyama Sundari Khal, environment protection and development of city\\\'s communication system.
Besides, various programmes would be implemented in the city during 2014-2019 under Municipal Governance and Services Project with the financial support of the World Bank, she said.
