The Prime Minister said this while addressing an election meeting in support of Awami League candidate Kamal Ahmed Majumder at Mirpur Adarsha High School ground and afterwards, at Harun Mollah Park to support Elias Mollah in the city. Sheikh Hasina said, the actors of 2007 get importance when there is no democracy in the country. She urged people to remain careful about those elements.
The Prime Minister said, it's beyond doubt that the election will be held completely in a free, fair and neutral manner. "No evil design to foil the election will be successful," she added. Sheikh Hasina said, her party after taking office in 2009 has taken all pragmatic steps to address the problems of the city people including the acute crisis of water, electricity and gas. The Prime Minister said, Bangladesh would be a middle-income country by 2021 and the country will transcend the stage by 2041 to be a rich one if the Awami League remains in power.
"None will live in a unhygienic situation of slum. We will arrange healthy housing facilities. If any slum dweller interested to go back to their home, we will construct home and arrange job for them," the Prime Minister said.
Extending her thanks for giving vote to party candidate Kamal Majumder in the last election, the Prime Minister urged them to register their support again to him in January 5 polls.
The Prime Minister said, the government defying all odds caused from blockade and hartal programmes of BNP and Jamaat, was successful to print more than 31 crore copies of textbooks and handover those books to school children on the very first day of 2014 academic year.
Sheikh Hasina said, BNP didn't come to the polls without Jamaat. But Jamaat was declared disqualified by the High Court to take part in the election because of its terrorist background.
She said the present government has taken initiative for trial of the war criminals as it's a popular demand of the people of the country. "Awami League works according to the wishes of the people while BNP acts opposite," she said.
The Prime Minister said, "People neither have any support nor any involvement to the hartal and siege programme of BNP. In the name of movement they are involved in indiscriminate killing, arson, bomb attack and tree felling."
Urging people to exercise their votes franchise on January 5 polls, the Prime Minister asked them to resist the anti-election elements who would create obstacle on smooth polling.
Later, addressing an election meeting in support of party candidate Elias Mollah at Harun Mollah Park at Pallabi, the Prime Minister said, BNP has right to boycott election, but no right to impede people to exercise their voting rights.
Terming Jamaat as a terrorist force, the Prime Minister urged people to forge united resistance against the outfit.
