PM launches electioneering, asks BNP to wait for next train

The Prime Minister said while addressing a number of publicmeetings in support of her party candidates here as she launchedher party's election campaign for 10th parliamentary electionfrom the southern district.

The Prime Minister delivered speech in two public meetings at Banga Bishwaroad Balur Math and Sadarpur Stadium in support ofparty candidate Qazi Zafarullah.Sheikh Hasina started for Faridpur on a two-day
electioneering by road. From Faridpur she will go to her homedistrict Gopalganj and offer prayers at the mazar of Father ofthe Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.Addressing a huge public meeting in support of party's
candidate in Faridpur-4 Qazi Zaharullah, the Prime Minister said,BNP preferred resorting to terrorism to protect the war criminalsrather than taking part in the elections.

Urging people to cast vote for 'Boat' election symbol ofAwami League, the Prime Minister said, 'Boat' is the symbol ofindependence, Bangabandhu, peace and dignity.She said, once Bangladesh was reeling on hunger and poverty.
The situation turned grave by the post 1975 rulers. After givingvote to 'Boat' in 1996, people started getting rid of the socialcurse."Boat arranged substantial amount of food, reached healthcareservice to the doorstep of the people. Boat can bring prosperityof the nation," she said.

Pointing out the country's horrifying political situationduring BNP regime, she said, "Darkness engross the country whenBNP comes to power. Now BNP is pursuing the path of destructionas their main ally Jamaat cannot come to the election."Sheikh Hasina said, no government except Awami League couldmove forward the country to an extensive level over the last fiveyears.She said, Awami League government initiated the dreamingproject for construction of the Padma Bridge. But, itsimplementation was hampered as the World Bank withdrew its
commitment of finance.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, her government with fullcompetence is running the government over the last five years."People were enjoying the benefit of our good governance," shesaid."People are living in peace and financial solvency. But,leader of the opposition becomes unhappy when people of thecountry are happy," she said adding, "BNP leader with her wholeheart is trying to destroy our all achievement." Sheikh Hasina blasted Begum Zia for her remark during thepress conference on December 24 last that Bangladesh becameisolated from the world community."Within half an hour of Begum Zia's comment, UN SecretaryGeneral Ban ki-Moon phoned me seeking one battalion peacekeepersfor UN missions," she said adding "BNP leader became habituatedin telling lie."

Urging Begum Zia to stop her ruinous politics with anti-liberation forces, the Prime Minister said, one day thecountrymen would put her on dock as an instigator of the heinouscriminal activities.
