"I hope that the next polls would be held as per the constitution and it would further strengthen democracy," the UN secretary general said.

The UN secretary general condemned the ongoing violence in Bangladesh and hoped this type of acts will be stopped immediately.
He expressed his optimism that the ongoing dialogue between the ruling and opposition parties would continue in the future.
The conversation came at a time when UN Assistant Secretary General Oscar Fernandez-Taranco is mediating talks between the two main political parties in the country.
Ban Ki-moon thanked the premier for her government's allout cooperation to his special envoy Oscar Fernandez-Taranco, Azad said.
Earlier in the day, United States Secretary of State John Kerry talked to the Prime Minister over phone and discussed the current events in Bangladesh, the Press Secretary said.
