PM opens Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hospital at Gazipur

After unveiling the plaque of the hospital, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Malaysian Prime Minister visited different sections and wards of the hospital. Later, the inaugural ceremony was held with Prime Minister and chairperson of Bangabandhu memorial trust Sheikh Hasina in the chair where Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun
Razak was the chief guest.
Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina extended profound gratitude to her Malaysian counterpart and his spouse for gracing the inaugural ceremony of the hospital. "We are very much honoured and delighted at your kind presence," the Prime Minister said adding it will further deepen ties between Bangladesh and Malaysia." Sheikh Hasina said she and her sister are deeply engrossed with emotion on this auspicious day, as they could materialize the expectation of the people and one of their long cherished dreams for welfare of the people.
She said about 1,700 poor and physically handicapped students are getting scholarships from the trust apart from giving assistance to poor Awami League leaders and workers and the persons, who sustained injuries in grenade attack on August 21, 2004. Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Memorial KPJ Specialized Hospital and Nursing College would be the biggest organization of social welfare activities of the memorial trust, she added.
The institute will provide international standard specialized healthcare services to the poor particularly the garment workers, women, children and physically impaired and autistics living in the adjoining areas.
Terming Malaysia as a 'good friend' of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina said the ties between the two countries in the area of trade and commerce are getting stronger. Extending her thanks to Malaysian government for resuming Bangladesh's manpower export to that country, Sheikh Hasina expressed her firm optimism that manpower export under G2G arrangement will get a boost in the coming days.
Malaysian Prime Minister thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for inviting him on this memorable occasion. "Malaysia and Bangladesh are always enjoying a very warm and friendly bilateral relations and I'm delighted to see under able leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina our ties continue to improve," he said.
