The Prime Minister said this while addressing the inaugural function of six establishments of Dhaka University at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban at the university this morning.
Taking a swipe at those who are claiming that the resignation of the ministers has been already effective, the Prime Minister said: "They are commenting on the issue not reading the constitution. There is no scope to misguide the people about the issue."
Expressing her firm determination to hold the next election as per the constitution, the Prime Minister said there should not have any "adhoc basis government" in any democratic country to hold elections. About the amendment to the constitution, Sheikh Hasina said the government has amended the constitution to strengthen parliamentary democracy and so that none can grab power by violating constitution. "We want holding of next election by maintaining that democracy as we had several jolts in the past," she said, adding no government except the past AL government could transfer power peacefully after independence.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the teachers and students of Dhaka University who staged a vigorous movement for restoration of democracy during the past military- backed caretaker government. Sheikh Hasina also recalled the glorious role of the teachers and students of Dhaka University in the Language Movement, the six- point movement, 11-point movement, the mass upsurge of 1969, the War of Liberation, the movement against military rule after independence and the movement against the autocratic rule.
The six establishments of Dhaka University that were inaugurated by the Prime Minister today are MBA Bhaban (Eastern Wing) of the Business Studies Faculty, Bijoy Ekattor Hall for the students, Shaheed Abul Khayer Bhaban for young teachers and officials, Shaheed Munir Chowdhury Bhaban for senior teachers and officials, Shaheed MA Muktadir Bhaban (Provost Complex) for hall provosts and Bangabandhu Tower for class four employees.
