She said, "We have to go a long way for development. No people in Bangladesh will suffer from hunger or live without shelter. We will fulfill demands of every people to build a developed and prosperous country by 2021." Criticizing Begum Zia for rejecting her proposal for an all- party poll-time government, the Prime Minister said, "Begum Zia proposed picking names from previous caretakers. "If she is so respectful to the advisers of the past caretaker governments why had she sent hooligans of Chhatra dal to frighten Justice Habibur Rahman, chief of former caretaker government," she asked? "In last May, Begum Zia also rejected my proposal for a dialogue on political situation by giving me ultimatum to quit power and leave the country within 48 hours," she added.


Expressing her firm determination to reach the benefits of independence to every people, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, Awami League, whenever came to power, has initiated massive development programmes to materialize the dream of independence. Recalling the fateful incident of rape and murder of 14-year Yasmin in Dinajpur during the BNP regime in August, 1995, the Prime Minister said, BNP has no sympathy for the common people. "The whole country was in a boiling situation after the incident. But, leaving behind everything, Begum Zia left for Beijing. But, I had came here to pacify the people and console them assuring them of taking action against the culprits," she said.


Highlighting the programmes taken by her government for expanding social safety net (SSN), education, health, food production and arrange shelter for poor, the Prime Minister said, the prime and foremost objective of her party is to free the country from poverty and hunger.
Earlier, Sheikh Hasina inaugurated a 500-bed Dinajpur Medical College Hospital, Dr MA Wazed multistoried building of Hazi Danesh Science and Technology University, 135-meter Rubber Dam near Mohanpur Bridge on the Atrai River, 100-meter Rubber Dama at Ranirghat on the Tangon River in Bochaganj upazila, upgradation of Birampur Upazila Health Complex, Biral Upazila Health Complex, Hakimpur Upazila Health Complex and Beerganj Upazila Health Complex to 50-bed from 31 bed, the 100-meter RCC Bridge at Pachbari Hat on the Atrai river, the four-storey academic-cum examination hall of Dinajpur Government College, Abdur Rouf Chowdhury Auditorium in Bochaganj, Dinajpur District Muktijoddha Complex Building, three-storey academic building of Setabganj Model Pilot High School, Independence Monument and Shaheed Asadullah Square at Birganj Pourasabha, Academic Building of Atgaon Dakhil Madrasa and Rajuria High School, police investigation centre at Mangalpur, Fire Service Station at Hakimpur, conversion of six kilometer metergauge rail line from Kanchan to Biral to dual gauge and conversion of nine-km meter gauge rail line from Biral to Biral Border to broad gauge, independence monument at Hakimpur, Dinajpur Press Club Complex, Gangor Bridge in Sator union of Birganj upazila, Kaharole Upazila Matsya Bhaban, academic buildings of Haljai High School and Okra Dakhil Madrasa in Biral upazila, upgradation of Setabganj Poursabha to class-I from class-II and Bochaganj Duckbanglow Building.

She also laid the foundation stones of the administrative building of Dinajpur Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Dinajpur Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Building, housing project for rehabilitation of the landless families living in the Boropukuria Coal Mining area, Dianjpur Regional passport Office, extension building of Dianjpur Stadium, Biral Fire Service Station, three-storey Muktijodhha Complex at Hakimpur and Garirghat Bridge over the Patharghata river in Mohanpur union.
