Sheikh hasina told that a people-friendly administration is a must for building Bangladesh a developed and prosperous nation. She urged the officials of PSC to serve the people of Bangladesh. “The people are the owner of the country and the officials and employees of the republic are the servants of the people.” She added.
Sheikh Hasina said, Awami League came to power for serving people. “We have strengthened the PSC like we did with other constitutional bodies after assuming office. We have let it to function as an independent body," Hasina said. “No one but the Awami League was able to give so many appointments to government jobs,” she mentioned.
Awami League government has created about 252,000 posts in government service from 2009 to 2012 and increased the retirement age of the public servants by two years to 59 years and gave promotion to 2,500 officers from Deputy Secretary to Secretary in different tiers of public administration.
