AL Pays Homage to Ivy Rahman

On this day in 2004, Ivy Rahman, wife of late President of the country Zillur Rahman, succumbed to critical splinter injuries she suffered at the August 21 grisly grenade attack on AL rally, after fighting for life for three days at the Dhaka Combined Military Hospital. 23 other leaders and activists of Awami League, its associate bodies and supporters were also killed and 500 others sustained splinter injuries in the brutal grenade attack of 2004.

In observance of the day, Awami League and its associate bodies and other social-cultural-professional organizations have chalked out different programmes. Awami League and its associate bodies placed floral wreaths at her grave at Banani Graveyard in the morning and offered special prayers seeking peace of her departed soul.

A special prayer session will be held at her Ivy Concord Tower residence, house-22, Road-108, Gulshan-2 after Asr prayers. Family members of Ivy Rahman requested her admirers and well- wishers to attend the prayers.
In a statement, Awami League General Secretary and LGRD Minister Syed Ashraful Islam requested all to take part in the programmes of the day to pay homage to the late leader.
