In a message, President Abdul Hamid said, "Her boundless sacrifice, compassion, cooperation and wisdom for the country and the nation made her Bangamata." Awami League General Secretary and LGRD Minister Syed Ashraful Islam called upon the party members and well-wishers to observe the birth anniversary across the country in a befitting manner. In a statement, he said, Fajilatunnesa Mujib was a source of inspiration for Bangabandhu in all struggles. AL Presidium Member Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, in a statement, also hailed Begum Mujib for her extraordinary simplicity.
AL, its front organisations and different social and cultural groups have drawn up elaborate programmes to mark the day. Awami League placed floral wreaths at her grave at Banani graveyard. Special prayers were held seeking eternal peace of her soul.
